I wrote about a traditional Chuseok food, Songpyeon, in my other blog.  Here’s a picture for the readers of this blog.

This is Joey.  She’s 6 years old (Korean age).  She’s a student in Sue Teacher’s class.  This is her second year at Little Campus.  She always seems to have some sort of play jewelry and she’s always so excited to show it to the teachers.

Joey is at Little Campus for most of the afternoon.  This was taken the day before vacation.  She always comes to me and says “Sticker, please, Teacher”.  The little jumper she has on is part of last year’s uniform.

Isn’t she just as cute as a bug?

My D3 Speaking and Writing class is currently reading “The Indian in the Cupboard”. It was one of my favorite books as a kid and I’m excited to be able to share it with a new generation of kids. In the spirit of the chapter we’re currently reading, I decided to have the class make tepees.

Before actually making our tepees, I had the kids come up with four animals and what they represent. For example, an owl might represent knowledge. Those were the symbols they painted on their tepees. This whole project took us about 2.5 hours (6 of their 25 minute class periods).

All in all, I think they turned out really well.

I admit, I was in a weird mood when I took this.  This was taken in a little park like area behind Lotte Mart.  Something about the pattern of the stones looked interesting.

I hope to have a bunch of good pictures after next week.  I’m going to Busan and Seoul with my father who is coming to Korea for the very first time.

Sometimes people are worried when they move over here they are going to lose all their pleasures.  My Dad is coming to visit and I know he’s worried about not having his soda to drink.  Never fear, we do have Coke, Pepsi, Sprite and Fanta as well as a few Korean brands.  It literally says “Co-ca Col-la” in Korean.  I took this at lunch yesterday.  You can read all about it in my blog.

These two little cutie pies are Lina and Lucy.  They are both 7 years old (Korean age).  They are in Dewey Class.  They are both nice girls.  Lina is a bit distractable, but what kindergarten age kid isn’t.  Lucy is probably one of my all time favorite students.  She’s got a wonderful little personality and I’m really looking forward to watching her grow and develop over the rest of the school year and beyond.

This is what happens to you after you’ve been teaching for a while.  Poor Dave, he’s only been here for 5 months.

This is a picture from the end of last July, right before summer break.  The kids were outside having fun.  This is the old C5 class anchored by Tina Teacher.

This is a picture from last year’s open house.  The kids prepared dialogs based on an every day situation.  I worked in the restaurant.  These kids are from last year’s February and November classes.   The February kids are scatted among the 7 year old classes and the November kids are in either A1 or B1.

On Christmas Eve, my kids made candy cane reindeer.  These were some I made for the teachers.  Yes, I realize that they should have brown pipe cleaners for the antlers.  Yes, I realize they should have red noses.  Yes I realize they should have googly eyes.  I was limited to what Lotte Mart had on hand.  I did have some eyes, but when I went to get more, they didn’t have the right size.  So yeah, they look a bit retarded, but they’re still cute.
